The problem of Abiey region is the most significant problem Sudan is facing now in the 21st country and there had always been a serious conflict between south and north.
The Abiey region contains large amount of oil, and that’s why both part of Sudan want Abiey. It all started in Abiey border region which never had its referendum to decide whether they want to join the North or South Sudan. The referendum was supposed to be called in 2005. However it had been infinitely postponed due to many disagreements and uncertainties in the agreements. Also, the referendum held in 2013 was unfair and corrupted. So the result didn't count and now Abiey region still haven’t decide which part of Sudan they’ would like to join. As long as Abiey do not make her choice, we doubt that the conflict between North and South will ever ends.
Another big problem is within both South and North Sudan. The problem is about their unstable government.
In the North, the people have Al-Bashir. Bashir did accomplish a little growth of economic in Sudan. However he was too violent. Even the International Criminal Court(ICC) had issued two arrest warrant for Al-Bashir, for accusing him of genocide, which comes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur.
South Sudan government was quite unstable too. The politics of liberation does not equal to the politics of a democratic government. The South Sudan leaders are not familiar with politics and negotiation skills. They can indeed increase the trading bond with their neighboring countries, and also use the resources of water or oil as their bargaining chip. However, it's a pity that the leaders are not doing so.
